Last week at the Urban League of Philadelphia's 2024 Empowerment Gala, we celebrated achievements, community, and the power of unity. The evening began with a heartfelt reception for our talented community scholars, followed by an electrifying cocktail hour set to the beats of DJ Queen Yaszy.

The brilliant Jacqueline London from NBC10 led as our Master of Ceremonies, while the budding young singer A-Yuri Gowens touched our hearts with his performance of the Black National Anthem.  Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake delivered an inspiring invocation that set the tone for an evening of purpose and passion.

A big shoutout to our premier sponsor PECO for their commitment to diversity and equity, and to our Affinity Group Presidents, Katie Sykes of NExT and Gloria Tepperson of the Urban League Guild, for spotlighting the impact of involvement in our initiatives.

We were thrilled to hear from board member Nidhi Chaudhary of CSL Behring about their ongoing support, which fuels our mission. The highlight of our gala was honoring the legacy of the late JoAnne A. Epps and presenting the Legends and Legacy Award to Congressman Dwight Evans for his outstanding contributions to our community.
