Fight racial inequality NOW!

June 15, 2020

Dear Friends,

I hope you read my statement last week in response to the civil unrest sweeping the nation.

We are sickened and appalled by the inhumanity we have witnessed in the recent deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd.

As you know, the Urban League of Philadelphia is a civil rights leader, committed to racial equity and justice. We share the heartbreak and anguish of protestors and the grief of families and communities across the nation.

As injustices continue to impact the Black community, the system fails us with unequal and insufficient action. That is why we need your urgent support today.

The Urban League has proposed recommendations for police reform and accountability. These include the widespread use of body cameras and dashboard cameras, revision of use-of-force policies, officer training and hiring standards, and the immediate appointment of independent prosecutors to investigate police misconduct.

I am calling on dedicated supporters like you to help us keep fighting for your family and loved ones. Your gift today will help alleviate the devastating impact of racial injustice, ensuring that Black Americans can receive the support they need.

We need to stand together now and refuse to allow our Black communities to suffer.

Sincerely,

Andrea L. Custis
