Dear Friends –
On behalf of the Board, leadership, and staff of the Urban League of Philadelphia, I would like to extend our most profound appreciation to the donors, sponsors, and supporters of our 2023 Empowerment Dinner.
This year’s event was a tremendous success, largely because of your involvement and commitment to our mission. Because of your generosity, we are pleased to have provided scholarships for 83 young people, totaling more than $200,000. These funds will support their efforts to pursue higher education and career opportunities. We could not be more proud of these brilliant young leaders and look forward to big things from all of them.
We also honored three stellar organizations that are having a real impact across the Philadelphia region. Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Elevate 215, and Lincoln Financial Network reflect the ULP’s commitment to empowerment, education, and equity. These values embody everything we do at the ULP, and our honorees have found unique ways to exhibit those values in their work. Philadelphia is a better city because of them.
We were also very pleased to introduce our new President & CEO, Dr. Darrin W. Anderson, Sr. Darrin is a true visionary. His skills and experiences will bring tremendous value to the ULP and the communities we serve.
While the Empowerment Dinner is over for this year, we encourage you, our donors and sponsors to begin planning to participate next year. We will provide updates and information throughout the year to help you stay engaged with our work at the ULP. Our success is largely dependent on your support and our mission — the achievement of economic self-reliance and parity is perhaps more relevant today than ever. With your contributions, we will continue to bring that mission to our work in advocacy, business and talent diversity and community and economic development.
